ABooks.App

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

This policy explains what information ABooks collects when you use the ABooks.app website, the ABooks apps (Android and desktop) and ABCommunity, why we collect it and what your choices are. We collect as little as possible.

1. Reading in the app

Your books stay on your device. ABooks does not upload the books you import, your reading position, highlights or notes. Read-aloud and PDF conversion run on your device.

The app downloads its settings, the free-book list and book files from ABooks.app and our file storage (Cloudflare R2). These downloads do not include your name or account details. All connections use encrypted HTTPS.

2. Information you give us

Contact form: your name, email address and message, used only to answer you.

Donations to the University Fund: the amount, and, if you choose, your name and city/country. If you enter your name or city/country, they may be shown on the donation map and in the recent donations list. Card or payment details are handled by the payment provider and never reach ABooks.

Shop orders: when the shop is open, the details needed to process and deliver your order (name, email, billing and delivery address) are kept as the law requires for orders and accounting.

ABCommunity: books and information you choose to share are visible to other readers.

3. Purchases of ABooks Pro

On Android, Pro is bought through Google Play; Google handles the payment and tells the app only that Pro is unlocked. On desktop, Pro is unlocked with an activation code.

4. Adverts

The free app shows adverts. Our advertising partner may use your device's advertising ID to show and measure adverts. You can reset or limit this in your device settings. ABooks Pro removes adverts.

5. Cookies and saved choices

The website uses only the cookies it needs to work, such as keeping you logged in or remembering your shopping basket. Choices such as the book categories you tick are saved in your own browser or app, not on our servers.

6. Statistics

We count downloads and app use in total numbers to improve ABooks. These counts do not identify you.

7. Who we share information with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with services that help us run ABooks: our website host, Cloudflare (file storage and delivery), the payment provider for donations and orders, Google Play for Pro purchases, and our advertising partner in the free app. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

8. How long we keep it

Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to answer you. Order records are kept for as long as the law requires. Donation details are kept for our records; you can ask us to remove your name and city/country from the map at any time.

9. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Please use the Contact page. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Children

ABooks is suitable for all ages, but children under 13 should use it with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
